This is the main thread regarding the issue with the 570: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/9291...led-570-a.html

I think this is the main thread for the 6950 to 6970: http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/899...ck-thread.html

reading those will help get a clearer understanding of the implications and issues regarding both.

Z68 haven't arrived here yet

As for the VGA. I won't unlock a 6950 sorry, that's too risky.
And what are those VRM issues with the 570?
Now I got worried D:
The HX650 is what I have . Plenty for Crossfire 560Ti's. Now I hope you're not trying to SLI a 570 and 560Ti because that won't work. Gotta be same GPU for SLI.

I have the 6950, unlocked Shaders (6950 BIOS flash) and OCed. It's actually pretty safe to do being that my card has a dual-BIOS switch. I can always revert to the original BIOS should something go wrong. If you do look into the 6950, make sure it's the reference design that has the dual-BIOS switch because some of the more recent card don't have them anymore. The risky method is flashing the BIOS to a 6970, which I refuse to do myself.

In any case, the performance gain is only like 5-10%. Many are suggesting to get MSI's Twin Frozr II 6950 and just OCing it as it gets better results.

'Oh snap' at the GTX570 topic. I'll stay miles away thank you.
Read some pages at the 6950 Topic and now I'm leaning toward the unlock direction if I can get the card you mentioned with the dual bios.

You know which brands did cards with this feature? From what I seed they all have been wiped out from stores. The brands I can work with around here are: Sapphire, XFX, HIS, MSI.

Aiming an SLI , XFire config in the future which one would you get in the end?

GTX560ti
HD6950
HD6970 - Pricey $$

GTX 570 is out of the question, besides being power hungry now I'm aware of those issues.

Awww. And here I was to say that I found an XFX reference 6950 with Dual Bios. Is it that bad?

Also found an HIS which I thinks it's reference with S/N H695FN1G2M
I believe it's reference because there is a H695FN2G2M

Maybe the 2 stands for revision 2?

TBH, I keep hearing horror stories here at OCN regarding XFX and their support. I guess I'm fortunate that I never have to deal with them, but I'm quite happy with my card.

Some reference card examples:

Sapphire

HIS ...matches the one you found.

MSI

Take note of the model numbers and that the fan is at the end of the card as opposed to the middle. Oh and get the 2GB version, not the 1GB one because they don't unlock.

stay away from XFX support has gone down the toilet in recent years, I would suggest the MSI gtx 560ti will run anything you want to play at high settings and most oc well with little or no voltage. I would also suggest the 1600 or 1866 ram and get low voltage 1.5v on the ram.

they used to have great service you could call them and live chat and get really quick answers / RMAs now your lucky if they respond to you threw support tickets no longer have phone or live support, and RMA is a nightmare.

All this GPUS have the Dual Bios then? I'll take the HIS then I guess. Very nice.

So now that leaves room for the Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz

I'll post the final build tomorrow and maybe start a build log !
