What heat is safe for my mobo?

Thread Starter
So ive been running prime all day testing my overclock. Also played some resident evil 5 whilst running prime. Checked my overall motherboard heat in HW monitor and it reached a max temp of 47c, although its currently at 40c just running prime. Is my overclock too heavy? My motherboard usually runs at about 25-35c when not using prime. What temps should i be scared of when it comes to my motherboard? I have no idea, ive only really started paying attention to mobo temps recently because of my new UD3P. Also if my mobo is hot, wont my NB be even hotter?

Thanks in advance

Hmmm i'd say keep any motherboard components under 60c

North bridges are safe up to around 70c

It may be what you see as 'motherboard' temprature' is actually NB temp? 47c sounds very normal for a NB temp under load.

Anyway, if it is the motherboard temp, it is all about where on the motherboard the sensor is located. 47c is fine anyway.

Running other programs along with prime totally defeats the purpose of running prime.

Yeah, you should really leave Prime95 running overnight or something, when you're not using your computer
