gtx 590 classified...no performance increase

Thread Starter
yeah I changed from gtx 460 in SLI to a gtx 590 and I dont have **** for performance increase. For a 700 dollar card I would have expected blazing fast performance but like I said...not a thing.

Is your monitor a 17"? That would be one reason, the other being it's not as huge a change as you'd think, because 2 460's are quick.

I'm going with monitor being too small though.

If you we're already seeing high frame rated before then the upgrade will not be noticeable.

Have you confirmed that you're not getting more fps in your games? Are your drivers up to date and both GPU cores enabled?

It is not the monitor it is the resolution. The lower the resolution, the less work the gpu does. The higher the resolution, the more work the gpu does. At low resolutions the CPU does most of the work, whereas at high, it does less.

You would only see a noticeable performance increase if you use a larger resolution. With your resolution which I would guess is 1280 x 1024, you're going to see no performance increase with having a better graphics card than your previous 460 SLI setup.

Well rift and other MMOs are largely CPU and HDD heavy... The GPU upgrade might not affect that particular game so much but I haven't played it so I couldn't know.

What's your resolution?

Your performance will not increase, it will remain the same.
If you are HDD bound like was mentioned before you could try getting an SSD to see if that solves your issues
