[HardOCP] MSI N580GTX Lightning review

The MSI N580GTX Lightning is without a doubt the finest GeForce GTX 580 based video card we've seen. MSI really showed what its power-saving technologies can do with this video card. It uses less power when idling and under load than the reference GTX 580. The cooler performed brilliantly as well. Under every condition in which we tested it, the MSI N580GTX Lightning was cooler than a standard GTX 580, even when the N580GTX Lightning was overclocked!

Can't wait to get mine. Just wondering when the heck they are going to show up for sale on Amazon???
I love mine, I like how it's using a aftermarket cooler AND it cools the VRMs good. Not many aftermarket coolers do this job well unless you go with full cover waterblocks. I just wish they got rid of the stupid LED lights on the back and had a backplate instead.

They were back on Amazon very early in the morning today around retail price.

You lie! lol
I haven't seen them except once by mistake. I walked away and when I came back I saw it was actually in stock. when I refreshed it was gone. It just didn't occur to me!

any tips on catching them in stock?

I love the MSI Twin Frozr cards. I previously had 2 GTX 460 Hawks (Twin Frozr II) in SLI and they were super cool and quiet. I can't wait to get my 580 Lightning back from RMA.

Yeah they had about 6 in stock around 5 this morning. I had a pm on record with Amazon for $370 and I almost pulled the trigger but the XE is swaying me. Although I dont see myself using multiple displays so 3GB may not be worth it to me. I'm doing some research to try and find out if 3GB will be worth it since I'll buy a Kepler card in about a year from now. Ugh...what to do?

If your replacing the Lightning in less then a year there's no reason for a 3GB card unless you're at some crazy resolution. The 3GB can actually hurt performance a tad bit.

Not to derail, but seriously, there were some @ 5am??? I was awake!!!!!!

At least I know that they still pop up. are they listed @ $370 or the full 500+?

Wouldn't Metro 2033 at 1080P on full settings use over 1.5gb?

I played at 1200 and didn't notice it at max, heck even on my U3011 I haven't noticed my VRam at max. On my U3011 I dont use max AA tho, but I'm guessing the actual GPU would hinder performance before the 1.5GB would
