Help me decide between video cards

Thread Starter
I'm trying to decide between two video cards, both are from G-Force (don't hate).

Is it better to have:
  • 2 Gig of memory, not overclocked
    -or-
  • 1 Gigs of memory and overclocked

Let's assume both are same specs in all other aspects except the afore mentioned.

Any recommendations for decent video card for the money is highly appreciated. Please keep in mind, I'm a professional videographer.

you need to give more information, memory is only one component to analyze, which cards are you looking at?

The 1gb is fine, a gtx550 would run out of pure processor power before 2 gb of memory would ever come into the picture.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that...

If you have one card rendering something that doesn't take up too much VRAM then the 1GB overclocked version will win. But there will be times where the extra 1GB will matter especially if you are using a monitor with a resolution higher than 1080. The higher the monitor resolution the more VRAM will be needed ofc.

Do you see the dilemma? You want to assume all other variables remain the same but that's not a good answer to your needs. I recommend providing all the information you cba to remembered dude. Remember you came here for the advice, and we are happy to help. People don't want to waste the time asking you for information unless they need it to help find the right answer for you.

Thanks for your response. I'm asking for my dad. He said he doesn't remember what the other one is. He already bought the 1 Gig. What you two are saying is the exact same thing the store employee told him.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
