Thanks much. Adding a few more pics. I have a little snag right now. The hard drives are now mounted in the floppy drive bays. However, the front case covers will not install because of the way they mount. The hard drives are in the way. I have to either cut the clips on the bay covers (which would mean I have to use some screws inside to mount them) or I have to move the hard drives back (which would look dumb inside).
Anyway, adding new pics now. They should be up in a few minutes. Still haven't done the side panels, and the top needs polishing or something because the paint wasn't very good and the clear coat I used wasn't much better. I think next time I will spend a little more on the paint, maybe get it made custom.
The back of the case turned out excellent. If I could get this wrinkle paint to work a little more reliably I might have been tempted to use it for everything, but in my amateur opinion that paint is spotty at best. Everything else is basically not as bad as I thought it would be, and not as good as I'd hoped for. Over all not a bad first attempt. I still haven't completed the fan controller, and the side panels will take a little while longer. More pics when it's running, and then a last series when the side panels are finished.
Damn, gotta go cut the lawn. Pics when I'm done with the lawn...lol...
OK, lawn done. Pics continue:
Wow, what a pain in the....you know....the dust in my garage is just a killer, but finally got the top half decent. The bottom inside looks funny in the pics because of....you guessed it, dust (and the way the light reflects off of the wrinkles).
EDIT: Later, after a good washing, it turned out most of this wasn't dust, but over-spray from priming other portions of the case. I washed it with soapy water and a sponge and most of it came off.
Right side and top
A little patchy
Here's a test fit to see if the cooler would reach...it did.
Installed hard drives and optical drive.
Here I actually did a little work. Cooler bracket and pull fan mounted, rear mobo plate installed, video card and power supply. Cursory wiring.
I have no idea why I took this picture.
My mess. You can see here I'm experimenting with a black harness sleeving for the wires. I had this in my first sig rig build and decided to run with it rather than paint the wires or replace the supply.
I finally decided to install the water block. It just reached with no pulling. I'm happy I don't have to add another shroud.
Here's a better picture with better lighting
Here's the back with two 80mm fans installed.
Here I've been working on sleeving some of the cables
Fan controller goes in
Here's the problem I'm having with the 3.5" drive bay covers. They will not go in while the drives are installed because their sides are too deep. I have to either move the drives back, or cut the sides of the covers short and put a screw in them from the inside.
The acrylic piece on the front is a little more beat up than I thought it was. The scratches and defects didn't show up when the case was blue, but the black really makes them stand out.
I will run a couple more pics when I get the thing running and the fan controller working. Maybe tonight or tomorrow.Edited by Mergatroid - 4/23/14 at 7:19pm
