Why on earth do you need such long risers anyway? Surely the only requirement is to get the cards far enough apart so you can use as many cards as you have slots plus keep them cool - 30cm is a LOT. The ones in the build you posted are only ~15cm - why do you need more?

The thread I lifted that pic from said they are 12 inches (30cm), but I'll start off with 15cm and see how I go smile.gif

I bought just a single solid riser (raised the card about an inch and it cost me close to 20.00 by the time it got here). I think the store was called Logic Supply

Has anyone actually got flexible risers to work on higher end graphics cards. All my research I've seen say no except of this post. I have a 1u case I may fit with a full size card but need a flexible riser to do so.

You dont need to get a x16 riser for folding . . .

A x4 or x1 riser should be enough right? as the WU is stored in the gpu's memory and transferred back when complete?

First pic here pretty much confirms they do work:

Granted, those were GX2s, but I can't see it being an issue with the newer high end GPUs.

An x1 is fine for most GPUs, yes, though for the very high end (GTX 480/580/590) may need an x4. Can't confirm whether an x1 is enough for them or not.

First of all, that would be a waste of the GPU. However, x1 should work as the only communication that goes through the riser will be the work unit which sends and recieves in the end. While folding, there is no heavy traffic.

I know... but there is still traffic... I do recall someone saying an x1 slot wasn't enough for a 470... though the PPD drop may have been due to something else. Never followed up on it since the person stopped posting.
