Interest in Photo Gatherings?

Came up with a weird thought, wondering if OCNer's of the shutter bug variety, would like to meet up at certain sites for photo gatherings?

Two places that came to mind for me were
Mansfield Reformatory - Mansfield, OH
(http://www.mrps.org/
(This is where Shawshank Redemption was filmed)

Wolf Park - Battleground, IN
(http://www.wolfpark.org/)

Let me know your thoughts. Also for people not in the Midwest, where else (local-ish) could meets happen?

I tried a photo walk before and it was just an e-peen flexing competition over who had the best kit.

Photo walks with online/IRL friends are great.

Photo walks organized by those sort of Flickr/Deviart/DPReview groups are a no-no.

I did a tumblr walk. There was a 50/50 split between spoiled pre-teen girls take pictures of themselves and their friends in various locations and grumpy French men who hated me because I was English and didn't have a bag full of L glass.

That would be kinda the point of doing one with OCN'ers. Allows us to "pre-select" attendees. It would be a time to kabitz, but it would mostly be a chance to shoot.

Edit: also, IMO, max 5-6 people each time. Past that it just gets silly (and stupid).

Oh yea, I have nothing against an OCN photo walk. I have nothing against pretty much everyone but dudemanppl () on here. It might be hard since we're few and live far apart, but I'd be up for one nevertheless. I was just commenting on other photography communities online. Pretty much all in line with what Blank mentioned.
