Only if you can afford too.

I run mine at 2400mhz 24/7. I have not seen or had any issues.. Can overclocking memory too high ruin this thing?

TBH, I think my case had more to do with my old P67 board going south than my clocks.

I remember installing the 275 Beta drivers and getting a warning about my primary PCI-E slot running below spec. Low and behold, a few days later both slots go out and one of my 2 cards is completely dead. Who knows, maybe the power coming through my mobo connections was inconsistent all along.

Sounds like the mobo bit the dust?

So in your're opinion if everything is fine on my end, I can still run my mem at 2400?

Well over clocking anything can shorten the life span of it. CPU or GPU. Heat has it's wear and tear since it was tested for a certain threshold and your surpassing it.

Having said that, companies find their products threshold and lower the performance level so their product runs less than it can, keeping it reliable so they aren't having to replace failing components within warranty time as best they can. Cost effective.

Trick is to find that comfortable over clock without passing the stress level tolerance of it, which we really don't know, without trial and error. Good rule of thumb is to find the highest over clock stable and I back down two steps. I over clock in small increments when testing so I know what those steps are.

Even same products have different max performance. You might reach higher over clocks with the same GPU. Where others can be OC'd higher and your second can't reach that level. It's like the lottery and it varies from GPU to GPU or even CPU to CPU.

I also run my GPU at default stock clocks and have an over clock profile that I use only when I game. This way I'm not stressing it 24/7 and will have a longer life span.

My CPU I can hit 4.0Ghz but I run it at 3.8Ghz 24/7 as an example. It's a nice 25% increase in CPU power that I'm very happy with. I can push it to the 4.0Hz level but then I'm pushing it to far and would like it to last longer. Though any OC on it will still shorten it's expectancy.

My GPU I have at 13% over clock when I game even though I've benchmarked it successfully at 18% OC. I backed down.

Having said that, I really don't need much of an OC myself because currently I can play games maxed out with AA maxed on every game, except Metro 2033 without any over clock at all.

Figuring it out is where the work is. What you need out of it is what you should figure out. A 24/7 over clock should be minor, and set a profile for the higher OC when you game.

I know when I SLI this GTX 580 my temps are going to go much higher. At that point I'm keeping it stock clocks when gaming since I'll have plenty of performance. When gaming finally catches up with my two in SLI at that point I'll be up against the wall and since I'd be replacing it shortely after I'm going to OC both regardless of heat and buy more time before getting new GPU's.

This is just my opinion. OCN has some hard core over clockers and might feel differently. Make sense?

Well obviously there are no guarantees when it comes to OCing, but if you're stable and your temps are fine, I don't see why not.

Good post btw, Arizonian.

How does it run and what games do you play? Like I say I am buying this to play BF3 and run a 9800 in the background to run Physx.
