I did notice something interesting, however. Does the X58 have any kind of mobo list sequence during bootup? When booting up, I noticed that the board's DRAM_LED light was on (the red light above the MemOK button that indicates a problem). This caught my attention, of course. However, upon the third (and successful powerup that always works, the light was still on. It remained on until passing the BIOS screen, ater which the light went out a d the VGA_LED light went on. It then cut out, and the BOOT_DEVICE_LED light went on.

Is this normal operation? At first I suspected the Ram light was shining due to an error, but after seeing the lights register in rough sequence with how their representative properties should be booting up (Ram, then the graphics card, and then the HDD). Is this so? I've never noticed what these red lights do when there is no problem before.
Just checked the sequence from my board and it goes like this : Cpu led, Ram led, Vga led and Boot device led. Previous led always turns off as next one turns on and once OS starts loading last diagnostic led turns off.

Dropped a ticket with ASUS. Told them not to just recommend an RMA even though we all know that's what they're going to do.

Ok, so while waiting for a return on my ticket, I'd figure I'd collect more data. Immediately I am intrigued: CPU-Z detects 6 Gigs of RAM, even though both the BIOS and Windows detects only 4. For some reason, this memory is only Dual channel; do I need to go in and set it to triple manually now?

Another observation I just caught: Every time the computer cuts during the first two anomalies before a regular bootup, the CPU_LED light flicks on for a split second right when the power supply cuts out. Whether this is a symptom of the problem possibly being CPU related (I've heard ONE person suggest it might be a pressure issue; I'm using a Hyper 212) or if this is just expected in the event that ANYTHING goes wrong is yet undetermined.

EDIT: Disregard comment about CPU light. It flashes when shutting down normally as well. Unplugging all USB devices also offered no improvement.

My Sabretooth also found only 4 GB of memory when I bought it and the reason was a bent pin in cpu socket. After I got it straight board has been working great.

I'll check under the CPU once I find a suitable mechanical pencil for pin straightening. For now, I'm going to reslot all 6 chips and see what CPU-Z returns on that.

Ok, now I'm getting mad. CPU-Z detects all 12 Gigs (and identifies all 6 slotted cards correctly) but Windows is now reporting 4 Gigs out of 12.

Ugh. Resetting BIOS...

WHAT THE HELL. I reset the BIOS, and now my computer won't boot. It's not even powering up. It's behaving like if I had it unplugged. But the Mobo's status light is lighting up so it's clearly getting power. JESUS!

EDIT: Ok, jiggling the cables running out of the PSU fixed this issue, which I don't like. I hope the connection between the cables within the PSU are not going weak.

48 hours MY ASS. Asus has still not yet replied to my ticket.

Although I'll be lenient in the fact that this was over the course of a weekend. In any cae, issue still not resolved and I'm running out of ideas.

your going to have to RMA the board, hopefully that will solve your problem.

Not a fan of the PCI slot layout I'm seeing on these Gigabite boards. There appears to be no optimal room for my sound card, and it places it above my GPU where it's going to be blocking the GPU's outgoing fan.

EDIT: WOOPS. Wrong topic.
