Thanks for starting yet another thread in which people can bash the h50. In all seriousness you really need to have that thing running as an intake in the 900. Its very cramped in there and with less than optimal airflow (I'm being nice about your cable management) its going to get stuffy in there and all you're doing is pushing warm air through the radiator. +1 for too much tim. The stuff it comes with is great tim just about 4x too much of it.

Reverse the fans, reseat with a better or less tim and you should be good to go. The h50 is superior in every way to the 212+ (good budget cooler)

It is ridiculous how a "power-hungry and hot" 5770 can overheat the air in a H50 yet the 212+ cools better.

Thread Starter
Ok well i will try again now with an intake 38mm shrouded fan. Its seated properly but i will tighten the screws (if i can) I know the cable managment looks bad, but its actually all on that side, nothing blocking airflow from the three fans pusing in 160-170cfms in.

Im going to go remount the rad now and see what happens..

Realistically though i think the 212 is much better.

There's your problem right there. You need to use the same fans if you want noticeable temperature drops. My i5-750 @ 4GHz only loads at 64c across all 4 cores with my H50 Push/Pull with Yate Loon High speed fans connected to my fan control having them run at their lowest speed possible. It was loading around 70-ish Celsius when I was using the stock H50 fan and one from my NZXT case.

It's important to have the same fan speed and CFM's for push/pull if you want good results.

Again your temps could be in the toilet from the massive amount of thermal goo. I suggest you get some of that stuff off there.

Oh that hurts. Don't feel bad your H50 is inferior to air coolers.

Definitely a YMMV scenario. When I built my cousin's rig, I used the H50 with a i7-920. Its clocked at 4.0ghz with HT on and temps don't go above 60c. I'd say it works just fine. I think the biggest issue is that little cramped case with improper airflow. I don't care how much airflow you have coming in, with all those wires knocking it down and making it not "flow" you're gonna have some stuffiness going on.

Clean up the insides, improve the flow and I'm rather sure you'll see some better temps. Not AMAZINGLY lower, but by a couple degrees atleast.
