Help with Xonar DG again...

Thread Starter
Hey - I recently purchased my first sound card - Xonar DG and well.. other than the Headphone amp - it's a complete headache.

Edit: Fixed half of my problem - I just need to mess around with the software more but ffs - more info in the user manual would of been awesome.

I'm getting really annoying static in my games. I always have my games volume lower than my actual volume and I found out this goes away if I lower the actual volume as well. But... I like to be able to hear other programs running in the background - and talk on skype - but this static is driving me crazy.

Have you got any RCA cables near the card?
I'm guessing it's static interference conflicting between a cable/device and the card

Try different cables/ move your GPU away from the sound card if possible and any amps near it as well and test to see if any of those are the cause

I don't have any RCA cables or any amps.. My GPU and soundcard are in slots furthest from each other. The static seem to go away when someone speaks in ventrillo and after they're done - it slowly creeps back into annoyingness.

Disable "smart volume" or whatever that option is.
Should fix it

This is also a good idea.

The GX feature on the Xonar DG often causes sounds to loop and go mad whenever it decides that an application didn't close properly, even though it did.

It also crashed Hitman: BM on my computer.

Stuff like this is unfortunate
I don't know why the drivers for this card seem to be so bad. Half of the 'features' break things, and the other half don't work. You end up with sound that is no different from onboard (minus the great headphone amp, worth the entire purchase)

Mine ended up costing $16 new.. I won't be able to bash on it @ this price.

Yeah it was the smart volume... after reading it's used to boost something blah blah gaming rofl - such a joke.

I've concluded that the only good thing about this card is the amp. The issues are small enough to work around but it shouldn't have to be like that. When you buy something you expect it to work properly.
