Never buying used graphics cards from Amazon Warehouse ever again.

Thread Starter
A few days ago, I decided to buy a "like new" GTX 560 Ti off Amazon Warehouse Deals, hoping to save some money.

It arrived. The box was busted (looked like someone stepped on it), but given that it had been previously returned to Amazon, I didn't quite mind. I took out the card and examined it.

Even though the card was in pretty decent shape, there was only one significant flaw:

Four of the blades on the 80mm fan had snapped off. I found the blades floating around within the box. I am not sure how it happened, but from the looks of it, it probably happened when it was being packed. Or, probably, during the recertification process.

I have printed my return labels for Amazon and plan to return this thing via the Post Office tomorrow.

Moral: Don't be cheap and buy used graphics cards. Not even from a well-regarded vendor like Amazon. They were returned for a reason, and usually a good one.

Oh well... Guess I will have to wait another month for a new graphics card. (I need the money to be returned to my bank account first.)

Sorry it happened to you, but thanks for sharing the experience. I'm always tempted when an Amazon Warehouse listing comes up in Google Shopping, but I've always pulled back out of fear something like this would be the result...this'll make it easier to resist next time.

Awww... I'm sorry to hear that. I've gone through a similar experience with my previous build.

Bought a brand new GTX 470 from Newegg and after a couple days of using, turns out it was defective so I had to RMA it with EVGA. Waited about 2 weeks to get the new replacement card (wasn't going to be a recertified one because it wasn't 30 days yet), but when it arrived, it looked all scratched. I didn't mind at first, but then it turns out that was on defective as well. All in all, I had to wait about a month total before I got my build up an running.

Good luck with the new card you're getting though!

Yeah... The card was held in only a hard plastic shell, not the foam padding that is usually found with more recent EVGA cards. I think UPS might have been quite rough with the package.... But, the fan blades might have been broken a long time ago to begin with, and hence, why it was returned.

I thought about buying an after-market cooler to replace the broken one, but I like stock coolers too much to bother.

Unless you see pictures of the product for yourself (like via Ebay), don't buy used graphics cards.

In the meantime, I will make do with this 8800GT.
