PC gaming hard drive

Thread Starter
Ive had this terrible stuttering for the past 6 months and skipping (Not Mirco stuttering) and pausing feeling in pretty much all my games. Some worse then others. I just upgrade to sandy bridge 2600k and new monitor and so on and so on.

I think Ive pin pointed that i haven't upgrade my HD in 2 years. This HD was give to me as a gift. So im looking for the best Hard drive that wont cause this stuttering and skipping effect.

I would love to buy a SSD but i just don't see paying that much for the the so little space. I know its fast but i can wait for tech to become more cheap. So fellow OCNers, What kind of hard drive should i buy ?

This what i have now (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073&cm_re=WD_BLUE_500gb-_-22-136-073-_-Product )

I heard WD blues suck for gaming and cause this effect. It that true ?

I'm not a big hard drive guru, but i know enough that i should have read up on the WD blue Hard Drives before putting it my machine. frown.gif

Also the funny thing is.. Now that i think about it, this hard drive been holding back my system ever since i put it in here.

Let me know what you think, Plus what i should get. My theory could be all wrong. I rather get some input before i impulse buy.

Thank you guys

EDIT: Looking for below the 150$ mark.

EDIT 2: Grammar and Spelling fixes

I think it's a good idea to have an SSD to put the OS on, in conjunction with an HDD. More space on an HDD is good, but loading times for doing random windows 7 stuff can be nice as well. Putting a game on there will decrease loading times a lot too, which people value.

If you're just going to buy one hard drive, though, you should go with an HDD just because an SSD will fill up so fast.

If you're in the market for both, pick one up. They're very cool. thumb.gif

WD Raptors or Black Caviar

I also see a lot of recommendation for Samsung's Spinpoint F3!

You could also buy a couple WD Caviar blacks or RE4's and put them in raid 0. Could even do it with some samsung spinpoint F3s as well. All are good hdds.

caviar blacks are awesome. i had two in raid 0 and they were just as fast as my SSD. (as far as i can tell)
