You say that...and I've said the same thing in the past. But come to think of it, I can't remember one game that had a crappy demo (not talking about glitches, just gameplay) which turned out to be a great game upon full release.

Um, not really, no. Old school pretty much implies that the game (or whatever) should be similar to older games of this genre and old fps games had a pretty damn specific gameplay: no npcs, maze-like levels, keys, weapon arsenal, medkits, kill-em-all style of gameplay. Doom, Heretic, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood, all these games are old-school fps games.

An fps with health regeneration and without the ability to carry the whole weapon arsenal simply cannot be considered old school, because these two features were CRUCIAL to the gameplay of old school fps games. A modern first person shooter with arcade-ish gunplay is just that - a first person shooter with arcade-ish gunplay. Not an old school fps.

You don't need to list the games everytime, I know what "old school" features in games you're looking for and from what games, no need to make reminders in every post. One feature that makes the game better for you ruins it for someone else. Half the people pre-ordering this game (including game review sites) want this game to somehow revolutionise FPS games, the other half want it to be the same old Duke Nukem 3D in a new engine, do you not see how pretty much impossible it is to make it cater to both? Anyway, to stop this endless debate on pretty much a "teaser" of the game I will reserve my judgements until the final game is released.

P.S. health regeneration could be fixed/patched with a new difficulty or something. Like I said, I'm not a fan of some new stuff they've thrown in but it could change from the demo.

There is a crap ton of negativity over this DEMO. Some of the comments are too cynical if you ask me. I think many of you are playing the demo as if it was the game.

This demo honestly feels like a semi-closed beta for the devs, as a way to put some of the aspects of the game out to the community and see what the feedback is like.

The demo to me felt more like they tried to put as many weapons and events as possible to give us a feel to what the whole game might be like. This can make the game feel poor because you will find many weapons in convenient spots and scripted events have ALWAYS been less than loved by the PC community.

I believe that it has inherited the classic play style we were familiar with but has also added many new concepts we are used to playing with today (for good or bad).

Now stop being adults, start thinking like immature teens with an angst against pig faced cops, and go rescue some busty broads!

I dunno I gave it a second run through on the highest difficulty level they have for the demo and it was alittle more fun this time through.

It's still not the greatest fps I've ever played or anything but it'll be solid.

Sure graphics could be better but eh who cares so much. I'd rather it be arcadey with less then stellar graphics then a game like Crysis which just shows you pretty scenes with pretty boring gameplay.

Overall I think I have 2 big dissapointments. Only being able to carry 2 weapons kind of sucks and lastly the shrink ray gun is pretty useless imo. It's slow as all hell (which is fine that's how the original was) and even when you hit the enemy they are still able to shoot you and cause plenty of damage. Honestly I can never really see myself using this in the final game unless there is some scripted event where you have to.

The graphics for this demo, even if it were suppose to be "arcade-ish" is still underwhelming imo when you're paying $60 dollars for it. I'm not in the Wal-Mart lobby shoving 50 cents into a machine. If i'm going to pay $60 for a game then I would expect quality graphics as part of the package. Eh, I can't say I expected much from this game anyway.

Update your drivers. If not now then when they're available, I was getting all kinds of crap until I updated from 270 to current drivers.

Nope, ATI just fails to test games and release drivers for them BEFORE the game comes out, instead they do it afterwards...Do they even support this game yet or the demo?

Can any game 10yrs in development ever live up to the hype?... No.

I agree people have a point about the graphics, they are far from cutting edge, but I knew that based on the various trailers released months ago. I found the AI to be very much like the original game, fairly stupid. How smart should a mutated LA Police Officer be? The weapons were cool, but I don't like the 2 weapon limit. I'm pretty sure Duke's line about the crowbar was an homage to Valve/Gordon Freemen.

Based on the Demo, I think I will at least enjoy the singleplayer campaign.
