Running Laptop off Car battery - Page 2

Not a very good idea if you going to do it regularly. You car battery will die if your not careful. Better get several laptop batteries. Or just keep car running. No practical solution really.

I would invest in a portable jump starter. You can get one for less than $50.
Keep it in the trunk so if you do kill the battery, you can get home.

What I would personally do is charge the computer up before you leave and run it off battery till it is down to around 10%, then plug it in to charge for an hour or so with it off and then repeat.

Other options are looking at a deep cycle battery that is designed to be fully discharged (most batteries are not meant to be completely drained, it shortens their life).

It is quite ironic that your at a power plant and having to worry about plugging in your computer.

It's a summer job while i'm in college haha. And it pays $10 an hour for doing nothing for 12.

Hey, $120 a day won't hurt. Especially doing nothing and sitting in a car. Game on!
