Can Prime-test degrade cpu:s? - Page 2

If you want to get nitty-gritty using your PC is causing it to degrade.

SB are nasty beasts because their VIDs don't mean what they used to. Have a look http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...d-voltage.html

Maybe then its better for me to set a high 1.4v@4.7Mhz and be fine with that, think I had that one working. MAybe better to run at this "higher" VCore then doing more prime-tests all the time to try to lower that VCore.

Strange that the OCguides dont mention this when saying something like "then test with primetest a couple of hours", if not working, higher vCore, and stresstesting again to you find the settings for you..."

I think as long as you feed you processor more voltage (the overall voltage after all the calculations) than what intel specified as "safe value", it will degrade your cpu.

I have been pushing my chip from the day I got it until now I think over a Month running Prime 95 leaving it overnight and get a black screen so I up the voltage until its stable once I found a stable then I try higher speed, with my chip I can get 4700 @ 1.40V stable 24/7, but it takes 1.45 to 1.46V just to get 4800, I have been testing currently as we speak trying to get it stable with Offset at 4800 and .80 Offset.

I'm pretty sure all the torture I putting it through i'm sure its degraded but will see how long it will died.
