Tried to boot but motherboard lights were out

Thread Starter
Just tried twice to boot up but the little code led display on the motherboard was dead. All the fans were running, but nothing was happening. Also holding down the power button didn't turn it off, I had to disconnect from the power.

The third time I tried it booted up fine with the led lights coming on straight away and everything going as normal. This is a relatively new build (sig build) and I can't smell any burning or anything, nor have I tried overclocking yet.

Any ideas what that could have been?

Only other thing I can think to mention is that I have had some trouble with ram. http://www.overclock.net/amd-memory/...ticks-ram.html

In addition to this I did have memtest errors with the other 2 sticks of ram, but haven't had the chance to test the good set in the 3rd and 4th slots. Could this be a faulty mobo?

Well it has restarted and rebooted a bunch of times now and it hasn't happened again. So weird though. No debug led lights at all, all fans running and now everything like normal. Maybe there is not enough info to diagnose, but does anyone have any idea what could cause that?

Have you changed any values to your BIOS? What is it that youre actually doing before this happened?

The only change I made was to set my ram voltage (only running 4 gig at the moments because of errors I got with 8) as close to the 1.3 of the eco g.skills that I have (I think 1.35 is the closest setting). And all I was doing was playing games last night for an hour, turned it off and when I went to boot up in the morning this all happened.

Might be your memory as you said it failed memtest. Try the other slots of your mobo. If you still encounter the problem try putting a different memory on your motherboard if have some extras and see if it works fine.

Yeah ok, memory will be my first port of call if it happens again. If I get problems with 4 different sticks though (testing 1 at a time), would that mean it is a mobo issue. Maybe the memory slots?

It happened again. Both times it seems that it worked again only after I disconnected all the power and left it for 5 minutes. Does that indicate anything. I still haven't had time to check the ram 1 stick at a time 1 slot at a time. The problem is it doesn't happen all the time so it is hard for me to trouble shoot it.

Does anyone have experience with ASRock mobos and for what reason the little error code led display wouldn't even light up, but all the power would and the hard drive spins but there is no display?
