Just when i thought GTX 570 was stable...

I have a MSI GTX 570, overclocked to 900 core 2000 memory, 1.05V
I have been running with this for months, played countless hours of BF2, Metro 2033, and many many more hours of different games.
Then i get Dirt 3.
Not the most graphically demanding of games, but crashed randomly, mostly on the menu screen. So not even thinking it was my cards issue i searched the forums endlessly. Then reset my 570 to default settings and no more crashing!
What a pain!
So anyway, its summer here and heating up, so am leaving the card at stock to make the system that bit cooler.
Just a pain that it runs great until this title appears.

It is quite odd that it would be like that in just one game. Perhaps it stresses a different part of the GPU?

I actually read the title of the threat and thought you were referrring to the price. I saw today I could have gotten a GTX580 for the price I paid for mt 570 two weeks ago...bleh

Its the game, its not the first time people have had issues either. Ive had a couple of crashes as well in the middle of the loading screen. And when that happened my GPU only read 10% load.

Make sure you're not using more than X8 AA in that game, it makes it crash. A LOT. Anyways... I'd recommend going through other (more demanding) stability test since i don't really trust that game. You could also enable vsync, since it's a racing game and wont cause delays.

yep it's def the game. happens to me aswell. Moreso in dx11, but I have had it crash once in dx9 (but it is alot more stable than dx11 at the moment)

Thanks for sharing your experiences on this one folks. I always have AA X4 and vsync enabled.
Its just strange that with an overclock it will crash within about 3 races, but with no overclock i can race for hours.
I will prob just use the profile feature in MSI Afterburner to switch setting for this game.
