Removing orange peel from gloss paint (multi-colour)

Hey

I know the general procedure for removing orange peel from glossy paint: wet sand to a smooth matte finish and then use rubbing compound and polish to get the shine back.

But is it the same when the panel has more than one colour on it?

In more detail: I have a panel that I've painted in high gloss black (car paint), but I've got a lot of orange peel effect on it. I also intend to paint a red logo right in the centre of the panel. If I paint it on, then wet-sand it as normal, I'm concerned that it will ruin the appearance of the logo. So how do I go about it?

I've come up with three possible methods:

Method 1:
- Paint the logo over the black as it is, then wet sand it all together. Runs the risk of blurring the edges or completely destroying the logo.

Method 2:
- Wet sand the black to a matte finish, polish to a high gloss.
- Paint the red logo over the high gloss finish and repeat the sanding/polish process on the red only.
--- Will be tricky to just do the red unless I leave the masking tape stencil on the whole time; don't know how well the paint will adhere to a high-gloss finish.

Method 3:
- Wet sand the black to a matte finish. Paint the red logo, and then wet sand that also.
- Polish to a high gloss finish.

Method 3 sounds like the best way to go to me, but I'm open to suggestions and opinions. I really don't wanna mess this up yet again.

I though polishing was for the clear coat.

I am under the impression that you prime, color coat, clear coat, then sand the clear coat evenly but not enough to go through the color coat, and finally, polish to a smooth finish.

If using matt paint, yes. But I'm using car paint.
And when I say polish, I technically mean rubbing compound.
