Mouse acting up(G5)

Thread Starter
Hey all!!

yesterday i first started having a weird issue with my logitech g5, it would randomly change DPI, and the forward arrow button stopped working aswell. i suspected it was corrupted software granted that i didnt format/reinstall windows for a while and formatted windows just because it was needed to. now the first few hours it was working as intended, however the problem just occured again.

I am wondering if anyone here has experienced a similar problem, and knows a solution. or is it just time for me to say bye bye to my mouse. i have had it almost from the day that it got released, so as i said it is an old mouse.

I fell in love with its design though, and i am wondering(if it is time to say goodbye) if anyone can recommend me a mouse for that matter. i was thinking of either the mx518 or the g500, granted that both of the design are similar to the mouse i currently have.

Thanx in advance, wether its a solution or a good recommendation

That does not sound like a software issue. Sorry my friend, but it might be time for your mose to go to the big sig rig in the sky. It will be okay though, because I can't really think of anything else more fun than buying pc components!

Sadly I cannot help you with your problem. If you decide to get a new mouse, get the MX518 instead of the G500. The G500 has a worse sensor because of accel, weighs more and costs more than the MX518.

Other way around. The ADNS 9500 is actually better when it comes to lift off.

seems like a new mouse it is going to be than..
you said i should rather get the mx518 than the g500, now i really like the extra few buttons it has on the side(im playing mmo's alot and they come in handy), though im still wondering if it would be worth it over the "problems" the g500 supposedly has. i never really use insane sensitivity settings(currently at like 950-1100 dpi max) and i doubt i will with a new mouse. are those acceleration problems also there if you use low dpi settings? how does the deathadder come in between those?
yet again thanx for the replys

I don't like the Deathadder. At 110 grams, it is too fat and heavy for me. Aside from that, there's no real problem with it. The LOD is high but it can be fixed. The mouse feet are too thin but that can be fixed too.

Don't worry, the deathadder 4g is coming out with lower weight, then the 4.5g is coming out with lower LOD, and the deathadder 5g will have better teflon feet

You smoke? Ever spilled coffee, hot coco, or any other sugary drink in or around your mouse?

The micro switch contacts and/or the board is probably dirty. You could try disassembling it and cleaning it out w/ some rubbing alcohol and some q-tips. Working on the micro switches is doable, but a pain. If a general cleaning doesn't fix it, replace it w/ an MX518. I've had 2. Amazing mice, better than a G5.

I have used a Logi G5 for so, so long now, it's a lovely mouse. I have had strange issues as well, however, it seems a software conflict with Teamspeak. When I assign a mouse button to talk, it will automatically jam the mouse into the lowest DPI mode and won't let me change it until I exit TS.

Truly bizarre.
