PhysX minimum required card. - Page 2

I'm going for a 460 768mb for a PhysX card myself, but that's cause I have 2x 6970s.

I have a gtx 260 216 core version and it works just fine. I think any thing higher then a 9800 would be fine. Any thing above a gtx 275 I think would be way too much seeing how there is not a whole lot of games that support Phsy X at the moment.

GTX 250 - GTX 260 any thing else is just a waste.

Rule is The faster your display card is the faster Physx card you would get, else things would just get slown down, If you got two 580's, You would want at least a 260 or better yet a 460. otherwise it will just slow you down.

Can you run an nvidia card as a dedicated PPU with a main ATI card? I thought nvidia drivers limited this?

There are ways around it.

I would love to replay Mafia 2 since it was amazing.
I've already seen a graph with a few different choice of dedicated physX cards and there was some big jump from low-end to mid-end in term of FPS.

If someone has that picture I would be so happy.
I'm looking to get the best physiX card without breaking the bank.

I suppose you are talking about either one of these 2 charts? See the 2 pics below.

brettjv has recently studied a 8800GT (with 112 shaders) as Physx with GTX470 SLI for Batman AA. It showed that 8800GT is doing a very decent job.
Here: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1024...ally-help.html

IMHO, GTS250 or 9800GTX with 128 shaders is more than suffice to do the job if OP so wishes.
(But if it were me, I would not spend money to buy a card just for Physx.)

As for Physx games, 2 games which are quite interesting (gameplay-wise and Physx effects-wise) that have not been mentioned so far are: Mirror's Edge and Cryostasis.

To be honest, I'd get a cheap GTS 450, ample power (192sp), small size, very low heat output.

The 9800/GTS250/GTX260 are good enough, but they idle at pretty warm temps (40-50c), compared to the 450, for a small amount more I'd take that into account, plus the 9in+ card in your case with the older models.

My next card will be a 560Ti, that's just my opinion.
