Steam is great because it's easy to keep most your games under one program and their sales are insane.

However, physical games will never die off as long as there's publishers who don't have their libraries available on Steam. That number will likely go down over time, but I highly doubt we'll ever reach a 100% digital distribution point with PC games.

I don't play any games that require Steam (obviously except from Valve games and some indie games).

How many big games require it? the latest Total war games, Call of duty, Civilization 5 (I think)... ?

I wouldn't say forced...I would say it is being gladly handed to Steam.

The only thing that stinks about Steam is that you cannot re-sell a game. Though even if you could I doubt that will be considered leagal in most countries much longer. The publishers are really starting to notice how much money game stores are making on 2nd hand sales and they aren't.

Other than that...every one wins with Steam...especially Steam

I only play Steam games that require it. They always sell games at the maximum price, I find that irritating. People praise their deals, but if you don't log onto Steam on that particular day out of the year then you miss the low price on a game you was eying then it shoots right back up.

I doubt physical copies will die out because people will keep buying them for the cheaper price.

Well the same is true for brink and mortor stores or online retailers. You miss the sale you miss the deal.

Plus every other store sells it for the max price too...unless it is on sale. Not sure what you mean there...

That is simply not true. Steam sold Witcher 2 for £35. Amazon.co.uk sold it for £25. That £35 price tag will remain there for a long while, perhaps 8 months. On Amazon the price will keep reducing gradually, and a few people will put up their second hand goods. If you want Mass Effect 2 it costs £20 on Steam, on Amazon its 8.99. Disregarding the recent sale, Black Ops is £30 on Steam, but £20 on Amazon.

I could go on. Bring up ANY game and I guarantee there will be at least a £5 difference or more on Amazon. That is why people buy the physical copy, for the lower price. It will never die out unless Steam stop cheating people.

I've been finding retailers are selling PC games for less than the price on Steam lately. I bought Hunted: The Demons Forge for just £25 today, it's £5 more on Steam (and not even currently available to buy on Steam thanks to a balls up). The Witcher 2 cost me £5 less than the Steam version aswell (my version is exactly the same version).

I can go and buy Homefront and Bulletstorm for well under the Steam price too. They're both sitting at £15 currently (this is brand new).

Personally I'd rather have a hard copy of a game than rely on digital distribution. Sure discs can get damaged etc, but let's be honest, if your PC game discs are getting damaged then something is very seriously wrong with the way you are looking after your discs, especially seems most gam,es don't even require discs to play once installed (or you can find a way around it if they do) anyway.

That doesn't mean I refuse to use Steam, but if I have a choice I'll go for a hard copy over a digital copy.

Every games I purchased I hacked them into a No-DVD crack.
Every games are in a box waiting to be played, so are my Steam games.
Steam is the new way to game IMO and it shouldn't bother anyone.
I have game @ home with it's dvd.
I go to my friends place willing to show him my new game.
I forget my game at home.
QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ

Now :
Log on steam, download and install the game.

I know, you still have to drive to your friends house but still, you get the point xD
