I googled and I had old results so not sure if the information still can be considered for now.

Can someone give me some basic pros and cons of it?
I've been using a PC-Based one right now, but it is pretty old, and I cannot get an updated software on it so I can only use 1 channel~It's been working great, pretty flexible with customizability with some other programs.

Seems like it cost more to buy a dedicated DVR.
I have cameras that are also BNC heads.

I read this thread:

So I was a bit frustrated into what I should do. Should I buy a dedicated dvr or keep pc-based?

The thing is that if I do PC-based, I don't have to use so much space, as I will keep that computer as my server / guest computer. If I do get standalone one... I will have to find another area/space to put it...

Not to mention, I already have hard drives.
