I'm Going Crazy! * Please Open thread to see why*

So, I've had my EK FC-480GTX package sitting and waiting to be installed on my Evga GTX 480....for about a week now. Wanna guess what's holding me back in getting it installed?!.............................Yeah, it's the GTX 480 itself! For as long as I can count, i've been trying to get my 4 stripped screws off this piece of *****, and I have tried regular drill bits, to the Pro Grabit Extractor Kit (which I may give another try).

To cut to the chase, is their a chance that anybody out there would trade an EVGA GTX 480 SCC FTW Edition Graphics Card with me?! I'll toss in a free GTX480 Backplate by Evga! LMAO. Crazy idea yeah?! Well, my head is about to asplode. (Strongbad reference).

.....Maybe I should just sell the card and Waterblock, and get the GTX 580. I don't know. I'm just frustrated and tired about trying to get this ***** to work.

edit: I doubt I have a warranty for this card, considering I bought it off some dude on OCN a while back.

Think I may give JB weld a try tomorrow. It just takes so damn long for that stuff to dry. I also feel a bit weird about gluing a screw driver to a GFX card....

I had this problem too (Used to have a 480). I just pressed really hard with the screw driver to try to force a grip, but I understand your heads are totally stripped. I would just drill them out then try to find some 480 screws. Maybe someone on OCN might have some, but don't the blocks come with their own screws anyway? At least my Razer 480 did.

Drill with a bit as thick as the screw itself should get the screw head off. Really if youve tried what you say you did you must be doing something wrong. Sounds a bit rude, not tryin to be.

Doubt you have a warranty if you didn't upload a reciept within 30 days of purchase to EVGA and register your serial number. You'd have to find the person who sold you it and have them file the process providing they registered it and uploaded their receipt.

Don't know how to help you with the screws, sorry to hear that. To remove th screws it requires #6 vorex screw driver. If your unsuccessful and providing someone else wants to buy it, moving up to a GTX 580 is a step foward. Improvement to performance by a bit plus less power consumption and heat dissipation. All 512 cuda cores unclocked finally for the Fermi series.

It's about taking the 4 screws out. They're in a "fu*k you man, i'm staying in here!" mode right now.

When using the drill bit, one of my screws is pretty much a round/caved in silver color. No philips head even noticeable. Doesn't seem to be going deeper either. What should I be doing??

That will work too, just make sure you do it right and let it set for a good amount of time before even touching it. JB weld is VERY finnicky, which is why I recommend soldering another screw tot he head of the stripped one. This is how you do it in the fabrication industry.
