Thread Starter
I am currently running a Corsair H70 with two Scythe GT AP-15 fans and two Phobya Plexi shrouds. I currently have it intaking air from within the case (22ºC), and exhausting through the top of the case. I am using fully cured AS5.

This is how I have it set up:

~> [GT AP-15 Push] [Shroud] [H70 Rad] [Shroud] [GT AP-15 Pull] ~>

The shrouds made a lot of difference... around 5ºC. Anyway, I am idling at around 31-33ºC @ 4.2GHz/1.185v on an i7-2600K. Prime95 puts my maximum temperature to around 59-61ºC.

I know these temperatures aren't too bad, but I recently ordered a Thermalright Silver Arrow for a very good price and want to try it out, but now that I have it, I'm honestly too lazy to take my computer apart again to install it, lol. I have very, very good airflow in my case (SilverStone Fortress with 3x180mm fans at the bottom for intake, the two GT AP-15s at the top for exhaust, and I modded the case a little bit in order to install another GT AP-15 exhausting on the window directly over my two GTX 580s), so I'm wondering if the Silver Arrow will yield me much better temperatures. I'm thinking it will, but I want some of your opinions first! ;]

Nothing like trying it out IMO! I honestly have no idea which one will perform better.

4.2ghz on a 2600k is really unimpressive.. I'd overclock more on the h70 and try to reach it's limits, then see where the silver arrow gets you in comparison.. You haven't really pushed the h70 much as is, so there'd be little reason to switch coolers currently.

Lap your H70.

What about a H80 or H100? They should outperform both (I Think)

Thread Starter
I think I'll push the CPU harder tonight on the H70. I hit 5.2GHz @ 1.45v and it ran fine at around 38-40°C idle, but I didn't stress test it; just wanted to see if it could handle it.

I was reading that running the 2600K at a voltage greater than 1.35 results in much faster degradation, is that true? That's really the only thing keeping me from pushing it harder for longer periods.
