As everyone have said, try to get a higher stable clock on the 2600k to really see which cooler is actually the best for you. Try to aim at least 4.5 GHz stable, and use Intel Burn Test to test temps. I've always gotten at least 3ºc higher from my processors when i use IBT compared to Prime, reading from RealTemp.

I'd try to lap the H70, the surface is way too rough. Hell, my stock Intel HS is way smoother than that. There's a lot of room to improve the H70.

It does not hurt to try the Silver Arrow. Just be sure to cure the TIM fully before getting accurate temp readings. And use the AP-15's as well.

Cool. Yeah, I'm not using the stock Shin-Etsu TIM because the pad it comes stock with is thick as hell. I tried it for a few days amd ended up switching it to AS-5 simply because it was all I had on hand, and AS-5 is pretty decent once it finally cures.

I'll try lapping the H70 before installing the Silver Arrow though; hopefully NAPA has fine enough sandpaper in stock!

Update:

I installed the Silver Arrow, and whoa. 4.7GHz @ 1.285v yields temperatures of maximum 52ºC when running Prime95. I was pushing ~61ºC with the dual-shrouded H70 using the AP-15 fans at the same clock speed.

My idle temperatures have also dropped quite a bit -- a steady 25ºC with the Silver Arrow as opposed to ~32ºC with the H70. Not bad!

All in all, I'm glad I switched to the Silver Arrow after all. I am using the stock CF-3 that came with the Silver Arrow. I have some MX-4 around here somewhere; I'll give that a shot the next time I'm bored.
