[Eng] Steve Jobs talks iCloud, iOS 5, OS X Lion and more at WWDC - Page 4

I love this whole "cloud" movement and I think you all should too.
Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less about storing any of my data on a server but the fact that all the big boys are going to be pushing it (Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft) means that lots of people are going to have access to it and lots of people are going to realize their internet can not handle it.

The cloud is going to force ISP's to upgrade infrastructure and provide much faster internet for much less and with no caps.
Before, you could live with a slow internet because it was only used for email and whatnot but now it is used for literally everything and slow isn't going to cut it anymore.

tl;dr - Cloud forces ISP's to get their thumbs out of their butts.

Meh on the cloud. If I ever get a laptop worth more than $300, I'll go for Apple. But until we get faster internet for what we already pay or less, none of this cloud streaming is worth anything.

"Sure, Mr. Soandso, you can listen to your music off our cloud service... at 96kbps."

Not really, I can see cloud storage being really good for non-sensitive data. If it were me, i'd have all my music based on the cloud with some nice custom API to stream it at work! It would save me using my mobile phone and I could take advantage of a computer better interface.

ah, look at sony network, and its problems. you realy want to give anykind of your data to global web? one day or another, that kind of system could be hacked and closed for more then a month. better would be to build a nas or something.

I've begun to hate anything related to WWDC purely because my Facebook news feed is full of idiots posting about how they are going to stay up late to watch it. If you ask them how they found Computex they go "what's that?".

I think iOS5 better be something really innovative or I'm moving to the Bold 9900.
