This for me. I haven't been able to do any preemptive searching for it, so I'm excited to learn what's expected/coming for it.

I'll take a look at iOS5, but everything else makes me yawn.

OS X Lion? yay another OS that comes on an over priced white Mac. no thanks

As everyone said, ISP's are not ready for cloud yet. What good is a shiny interface if the ISPs cap your downloads, or throttle your speed?

Something I don't think people understand is that your computer can be "on the cloud" just by having an internet connection. SURPRISE!

If you have a ton of music on your home computer and want to be able to stream it to say, your phone or computer elsewhere you can set it up to do that. You don't need to upload it somewhere. All that does is add a middle-man to the situation. The internet is the "cloud." Your computer is A PART of the internet. Come on guys, wrap your heads around this before you post.

Pretty excited for OSX Lion. Really looking forward to "Mission Control" as it was pretty nice in the beta.

Would like to see what they are going to do with iOS 5. I could care less about the iCloud though.

I am excited about icloud, iOS 5, and OsX Lion. Bandwidth means nothing to me. I have unlimited data on my phone and ISP.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less about storing any of my data on a server but the fact that all the big boys are going to be pushing it (Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft) means that lots of people are going to have access to it and lots of people are going to realize their internet can not handle it.

The cloud is going to force ISP's to upgrade infrastructure and provide much faster internet for much less and with no caps.
Before, you could live with a slow internet because it was only used for email and whatnot but now it is used for literally everything and slow isn't going to cut it anymore.

tl;dr - Cloud forces ISP's to get their thumbs out of their butts.
thing is, this is where you're making your mistake. as it is now, ISP's are using caps, in order to prevent mass protests when data usage is really high. US internet is based off "get your thing fast and move on" which is why you see things like Comcast having 50/10 or 105/10, on a 250GB cap, or Charter with 60/5 on a 500GB cap. it's so whatever you do gets done quick, and then you leave the internet and free up for someone else., you're being shoehorned into going capless by paying through the nose for business lines.

they're making us pick one option and will want to profit off people who go over. it's a money grab. ie, AT&T say their network is facing congestion by 2% of users, who use 20% of bandwidth, but yet, they're happy for you to pull 1TB down, as long as you pay for it. so is it really congestion?

frankly i don't think they'll do anything. they've shown they don't really want to compete. look at AT&T implementing caps on their DSL for example, and what happened in North Carolina recently.

i agree that they should be upgrading infrastructure, but they don't want to. if you have people like AT&T pitching U-Verse as a next gen solution, and then saying it runs off fibre and yet limiting you to 24 down even that depending on how far you are from their vrads, what does that say? noone wants to pay to lay down fiber.

and FWIW U-verse is FTTN, which in my eyes doesn't really count, since cable also goes off into fibre at some point, while being able to provide somewhat consistent speeds without being so constrained by distance

-iceblade^, you should take a look at what exackly is transferred. you should know that half of global e-mail bandwidth (or maybe full global internet bandwidth, don't remember that atm) is a... spam. removing all unnecessary crap would help much more then just rebuilding infrustructure.

oh i agree with you completely, but then again, what's an ISP going to do about spam?

spam is a more international issue. i'm talking solely on US ISP's.
