errr how? It's a backup service. Just like dropbox in which I can access it on my android device.. There is no difference. OH maybe they wont charge out of the box but you bet they will charge for more space.

Well, let's see:

It backs up your photos, music, settings, contacts, calendars, etc., and syncs it to any other devices, including your Mac. Buy one song here, it'll pop up on your iPad, and your Mac. Take one photo there, voila, it's on your Mac and iPad.

It also backs up your apps, app data, all the above, and does an actual device back up to the cloud, so you can restore from the cloud.

It also backs up iTunes music, books, etc.

If iCloud = Steam for my iTunes I'm down.

It bothers me valve can provide a place to download 100s of GBs of data as many times as I want but Apple will only let you DL your 700MB CD once.

You can download music more than once now off iTunes.

I found this article talking more specifically about the Icloud and pirated music. I have music that I don't know the origin of but either way I will not be jumping into cloud computing anytime soon.

Apple's idea of the perfect company? Sell services not hardware. I for one cannot stand the marketing and gimmicks. I want power, customization and heaven forbid aftermarket modifications.

When did this change?!?!?!?!

I was just *****ing about this less than two months ago when I bought a song at home on a different PC and was unable to get it on my laptop without buying it again or going home to sync it from the machine I bought it on.

You guys do realize that you don't upload your music with this service right? This is one of the major differences when compared to the others. It scans your iTunes library for what songs you own and then streams the song from Apples own iTunes library to any device you have synced/set up. Also Apple negotiated contracts with the four major record labels, which is also a pretty big advantage. This is why i see it beating the competition, not because it's apple but because it is a better approach.

I don't really care about the war, but all devices can do the same things. It's long standing, and to think these newly added features to iOS don't follow that rule is misguided.

There is no war, they both do the same things, pick the machine or UI you like best and go from there, but don't think you're getting a privileged experience others aren't.

You say Android does these things, but does it also automatically and seamlessly sync it to all your other devices, including your PC?

Add a contact on your iPad, it's on your iPhone, and your Mac, etc.
