Will the 2500k be a bottle neck?

Thread Starter
It's just that im building a very high end system to future proof it till 2013-14. Because thats when i might end up using it in uni. So it doesnt need to be the best then but it still had to run the editing programs etc of 2013-14. Would a 2500k bottle neck my sytem if its at 4.5ghz? Also could there be anything else bottlenecking me? My system is below. Im not sure if it says below but ill be using a ocz vertex 2 120gb ssd

No. I don't think there's anything that the i5 2500k can bottle neck right now. It's the latest great architecture, and it is using instruction sets that aren't even being used by other programs just yet.

Even if it was a bottleneck, you can OC it soooo easily to 5ghz.

I doubt the 2500K is a bottleneck for anything right now.....and even more doubtful at that speed. Certainly not for a Radeon 6990.

Well, you got the SSD covered too...so no.

Don't like CoolerMaster power supplies, but you're overkill with it anyways so meh.

You sure you´re not just showing off? 2500k & 6990 is the highest of high-end stuff and you know this. But no, when you get an SSD you´re more than ready for anything in the next couple of years. You better enjoy it.

Just buy what you can afford. Everyone's computer gets outdated every year.

Technically, everything can become a bottleneck. If you can run your programs well, that is the best you can do.
my 2500k at stock 3.3ghz and gtx 570 dirt 2 = 120-130fps and at 4.7ghz dirt 2 =120-130fps exactly the same so no it will not bottleneck even at stock settings.
I'm only running 4.7ghz as i do a fair bit of music and video encoding
