[Amazon] Electronics Trade-In program - Page 2

Yeah I've never had an issue with a trade-in, but I also take photo albums worth of pictures when I send something in. Amazon is pretty good.

its actually decent for someone who has a lot of old electronics.
for example, you might be able to sell your iphone 3g 8 gb on ebay or CL for around 120 or so. You can also trade in for around 100. I know its 20 dollars less but without the ebay fees or the CL hassel (or even getting robbed/killed)
i think its pretty worth it

Best Buy is doing this too. Its a scam. Its for people who buy too many things to begin with and this just ends up making them spend even more money.

Your Troll is awesome, but I'll say this anyway.

You got it backwards. For the old I phone 3g they would GIVE you $20 for it. They give you nothing for what you could sell yourself. Even if you bought the latest phone and "traded up" for something your purchase would loose 40% of the value straight away.

You know when you buy a car and the minute you drive it off the lot the value depreciates? This is like that, but even worse because you can sell the car to anyone, Best Buy or Amazon are the only companies who will take since you already signed up for the service and are paying for it anyway so they give you nothing.

Actually this program is for lazy people that don't know how to sell or trade things themselves or do not want to go through the trouble and would rather be swindled then to just keep there perfectly useful piece of hardware.

I've used it for trading in textbooks and games before, all went perfectly. It's not Amazon you're shipping the stuff to, but individual sellers who have been approved by Amazon - and they're very good about dealing with complaints, esp because Amazon is giving them so much business they'd not have otherwise.

I'm of mixed feelings about such things, on the one hand I have a bit of a hard on for Amazon, they're really doing their best in so many ways, good CS, building good rep, trying to keep customers happy as they branch out into new service areas.

On the other hand I agree that most of these services are essentially scamming lazy people with too much money. If you find yourself in need of such services you probably should ask yourself why you have so much stuff to sell.

That said it's not my place to tell you how to live your life, so I'm happy to give my thumbs up to Amazon services, they really do their best to keep people happy so you're unlikely to face a horror story like the previous posters.

I totally agree. But like i said previously, some of the prices they are offering are really good. if you can sell 120 for iphone via ebay. Or 100 through amazon. To me, its no brainer to go through with amazon. Save all the hasslew of dealing with other people
