No way a gaming laptop can last 7 hours...sorry!

I expect it to go to the integrated graphics card while on battery power for simple tasks on the go.

The point is, you're definitely not going to hit all your requirements. Drop one and you'd be good to go, but there is absolutely no laptop out there with a high/mid range graphics card and 1080p that will pull 7 hours with the battery.

Although, if you get a 9 cell battery with the HP dv7t quad, they offer up to 9 hours (but you know marketing, you'll probably get closer to 5-6 hours). Only downside is that the graphics are either a 6490 or a 6770, which you can get with $25 more.

I am not happy with my father's HP laptop, and will be avoiding them as a brand . I don't understand why laptops don't have both high-end graphics and long battery life. While in use, you only get one or the other (switchable graphics on battery for life, dedicated graphics on AC).

I guess my next step is to look at graphics cards just lower than the 555/460, and shoot for 5-6hours of battery life? Too bad I have to compromise.
