So, what do you say we do, cancel the whole free market theory that most of the Western World relies on and instead having people wade in and dictate maximum prices? I do believe that's what happened in communist eras. The state dictated the maximum price you could sell things for... and well, that didn't end massively well. I'm not trying to make this political, but whilst people buy products, it means someone still values the product and thus is prepared to hand over their cash.

Best way to reduce game prices? Don't buy them if they are too expensive.

There is something called consumer rights. As free as the market is, if for example companies were to sky rocket prices of bare necessities, starving people out, wouldn't the government intervene then?

Of course video games are a luxury rather than a necessity (to the masses at least xD)

That's the beauty of a free market. It wouldn't happen because there would always be one company who would undercut prices and take all the sales! So, companies are forced to compete and cut prices in order to constantly win sales.

If however, they formed a cartel... then that is different. Then yes, someone has to step in. My school got heavily, heavily fined for price fixing. Luckily, it hit my parents and a few years later, I personally got £2000 in a payout from fines imposed biggrin.gif

If anyone can be elite, then shouldn't the name be "normal"?

Anyways, its not like those games have actually changed significantly since cod4 (which WAS amazing for its time).

They dont take any skill to play, you see the bad guy first, you kill him. He sees you first, he kills you.

Only time its interesting is when you both run into each other, then its whomever can keep a steady hand and has the best rate of fire.

At least in crysis 2 you may have the chance to turn around and kick some ass.

BF3 will be something special, mark my words. BF2 was Legendary and I still play it online..

Do you think they care all that much about the hardcore portion of the PC segment (e.g. the minority of the minority)?

And COD is my/other peoples type of game. If BF3 did the same thing I wouldn't bash them for doing it. It's a smart idea. You're being a hypocrite saying you wouldn't pay for this, but if BF3 did this you would. NOT cool.

Grand isn't it. Those last POS games sold less than COD4, on the a PC. Glad to see the PC community is smarter than the masses. smile.gif

BFBC2 outsold the last two COD's combined, on PC. Makes me happy and proud. smile.gif

You obviously did not read the article.

So if BF3 has the same thing you wouldn't pay for it?

You don't have to get it! You are not loosing anything if you don't get it, and its not to play the game it's for extras. That just shows me how you didn't read the article.

Again read the article...They are getting everything in the game. The sub. is for extras. And really how is this being greedy? It will probably be around $5/month. Come on now.

Bungie did the same thing. Why warn't you guys bashing them? OH wait most of you are probably BF3 fanboys. So what if BF3 did this? What would you do? I'm sure you would pay for it. Stop bashing Activision for doing something, just because you don't like them.

Actually I did read the article. All the things we used to get for free they are charging for. it's obviously you that didn't read the article. wink.gif

/Don't care. PC version will suck/run like garbage anyways, they've gotten worse and worse after W@W. Considering how old the engine is, it should be running maxed on P4s not struggling on quad cores.

Did you know that computer games prices are one of very few things that haven't increased in direct correlation with inflation. In fact, if you compare when PS1 games were £29.99 nearly 10 years ago, they only cost £39.99 today. If they went up in price like any other product, prices would be much higher.

In fact, markup on prices has significantly declined over the years as game prices haven't really gone up, but cost of manufacturer has. So, in essence, £40 for a computer game is still an excellent deal.

Lastly, why do we have this sense of entitlement? When we buy a game, we buy what is on the disk. You don't buy DLC, thus you aren't entitled to it. If you don't think the content on the disk is worth the price, don't buy it. If I buy a car, I am not entitled to all the optional upgrades. I pay my money for what the car has, not what I think it should have.

It's simple. If you think it's bad value, stop buying it. Whilst people still purchase games like CoD, then it means there is still demand. Demand means people are prepared to pay the price and thus, your moaning will stop nothing.

PS1 games were £39.99 too.

I've always paid nothing more than £30 for PC games and I continue to do so throughout this £60 non-sense.

If this magically makes me the bane of PC gaming then so be it. My wallet is much needier than the wallet of big publishers.

EDIT:

And actually his moaning is lot less harmful than yours. See, he's moaning about the price in the hopes that more people will realise this and complain too. Ultimately, his goal is to get the price back to a decent level. This is good for us all.

Whereas you want him to shut up and put up with the price, which ultimately leads to us all being lumbered with VIP codes and £60 games.

Personally, I'm behind the guy after lower prices wink.gif
