Two questions about Radeon HD 6850...

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I just picked up a XFX Radeon HD 6850 graphics card and after doing some reading on here I noticed that some other owner's have 'OpenCL' checked on their CPU-ID windows. I have downloaded the OpenCL drivers via the AMD website, but mine is still unchecked. Is this hurting/slowing anything and if so, how can I get it fixed?

Second question: I have an older motherboard that only has a PCI-E 1 graphics card slot. I am going to be upgrading to the 990FX soon and I am wondering if I will notice a performance boost when I plug the card into the PCI-E 2 slot. Any ideas??

Thanks!

Open CL should be checked, I'm not sure why.

For a graphics card your gonna want to use the PCI-E x16 slot.

King, i've noticed on some user's CPU-ID that it is and some it isn't, strange that some it checked and some don't.

As far as the graphics card, I know it's going to go into a PCI-E slot, but my current board only supports PCI-E 1.0, not 2.0. The Radeon 6850 supports 2.1 PCI-E so I'm wondering if I will see any benefit going from 1.0 to 2.0.

Doubt youll see much difference since its still an x16 slot. The 6850 is the replacement for the 5770 so it wont need as much bandwidth as a 5850 I wouldnt think
