Upgrade path?

With the recent Witcher 2 benchmarks, I've realized the importance of having a decent processor. My rig's a bit old and I'm ready for a CPU upgrade, but I'm not sure how to approach it.

Please note that nothing will be happening for probably at least a month. I just want to have my eyes set on something.

Anyway...What I'm thinking is that I need to get more performance out of my CPU. There are two ways to tackle this, as far as I'm concerned, and that would be to
a) buy an aftermarket cooler and a new PSU and reroute airflow in my system with nice fans, etc, and overclock my current CPU a great deal
or b) completely revamp the system; buy an i5 2500k, new motherboard, and new RAM. No aftermarket cooler, fans, or PSU.

I figure option A will be much, much cheaper than option 2, and the equipment will likely last a while longer since I could use the fans and CPU heatsink in a new system, but will give me less of a performance boost.

Option B will be much more expensive (though I don't know how much, seeing as I'd sell the old parts), but give me a boost in performance and some future-proofing.

What I'm trying to figure out is what I should aim for in the next few months. I'm not sure which of these options to choose, and I'm not really sure how to tackle either one of them if I were to have a clear answer. If you have any suggestions as to which option to choose, could you please state them, and also give me a little bit of help choosing parts?

Any input would be so helpful. Thank you to everyone in advance!

I suggest your option "B" as option "A" isnt going to give you the desired effect. Your sig shows your already at 3.2... so I am not sure what you intend to target for OC, but I doubt it would be enough to be where you want to be.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I guess I should have said something about doing both of these in the future. I plan on upgrading the CPU at some point, and I figure a better PSU and better airflow+ an aftermarket cooler will be useful when I do upgrade it.

Plus, it's hard to say whether or not games will follow The Witcher 2's trend...I've not seen another CPU bottleneck yet, and I'm not sure they will be present in enough upcoming games for me to absolutely need that upgrade now.
