Half of the screen have green lines, defective monitor or GPU?

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, I made a post earlier about two U3011, one of them is a replacement unit. The original have issues like half of the right screen displaying green lines or broken lines like the monitor has been cut by knives repeatedly. I will restart the computer and during bootup the WHOLE screen goes crazy orange/green with lines all over, but then another reboot and everything works perfectly.

So I thought my pair of unlocked 6950 with 6970 bios are dying because I hear the ram won't last if i use 6970 bios. But then my monitor is also connected to my PS3, and when I change input to PS3 half the screen is also showing green lines, so that sort of points to the monitor being the issue.

Now I have two U3011 and both are hooked to my GPU1 via dual link DVI + display port. While watching a movie, the "defective" monitor has lines on half the screen whereas the display port monitor appears to be perfect.

So is it my monitor that needs replacing, or the GPUs??

Also, I did not receive a return shipping label for the replacement monitor, is that normal? Thanks in advance

sounds like you're monitor I would try every port on the screen with ps3 and if it does it with the port where the GPU is connected it would be the monitor . I would try the GPU too just to be sure.

if it does with both the PC and ps3 it can't be the GPU.
