CPU - RAM Speeds

Thread Starter
Im doing right by using an 400Mhz FSB x 7.5 multiplier for the processor and a 1066mhz RAM, which i overclocked to 1200Mhz?

I dont know much about the frequencies yet, and dont have the experience you guys have.

Summary:
Processor: Q9300 (400Mhz x 7.5 Multiplier = 3.0Ghz)
Memories:4x KHX8500D2/2G (2GB DDR2 1066MHz CL5 5-5-5-15 2.25V) Overclocked to 1200Mhz
My motherboard is listed below.

3GHz is good, a 500MHz overclock and for the ram, if its at 1200MHz then do a ram benchmark such as MaxxMem witch can be downloaded here:
http://www.brothersoft.com/maxxmem-preview-270353.html

first of all, test the ram at 12000MHz and 5-5-5 timings and write down the numbers it displays after the benchmark has ran, next try the same thing but with 1066MHz and 5-5-5 timings and write it down and then if 1200MHz is not stable then change the timings in the bios to 5-6-5-16 and do the same and write it down, use the most stable and best performing setting

THATS what i love to see. Useful information.

Ill do the testing and write them here.

They are Kingston HyperX rams, natively 1066, and my mobo has native support for OC the memories.

also, i have an dedicated Kingston cooler for the memories.

or is it a heat sink that goes over the acctual ram modules like this:

if theres anything els just ask

Overclock the ram and cpu, befor the ram overcloxk the cpu to how tou want it and lower the ram speed alot untill you get you desired cpu speed that is stable then overclock the ram, you may need change the cpu speed ever so slightly to get the ram speed, give or take

when overclocking the ram dont use the fans untill youve done, it will make it easyer and if th ram dosent get hot or even warm then if you have good case cooling the fan will not be needed.

The fins on ram are mainly for the looks, but the pro clockers that overclock the ram far beond the expected may put them to good use. The heatsink is fine, some faster ram then yours dont even have a heatsink atall!

Yeah, my Mobo has an option to OC the memories until 1200mhz when they are 1066, factory guaranteed.

When i go back home ill do the testing.

Overclocking the RAM depends on the RAM, different RAM will overclock better then others, the motherboard can not guarantee an overclock because you could have really cheap RAM that will not overclock past, say 1100MHz and at 1200MHz it may die

OK, would love to hear back
