Personally I would take the 280 out Those 480's when overclocked pull a lot of power so I would like to have a little safety net. But it is a strong PSU so it should handle all those.

I don't know the build quality of the psu or its real Watts, but id say yes just because 1000 is pretty high , but then again it could be one of those crappy exploding psu's .

Take out the 280 and you'll be fine

1000 watts should be enough, but I think that you have a different issue. When you run graphics cards in sli, they must be clocked at exactly the same rate and have to have the same data transfer rate or it will either not work, or run extremely inefficiently. Mixing a 280 and 2 480s will probably not work and i do not recommend doing it. You are cutting it very close with the wattage i think, so taking the 280 out will most likely solve your power issue as well. Good luck on your build.

I'm not sure what that particular PSU is like, though i have some doubts regarding the quality of OCZ products. Before I went to college at the end of summer last year i was working at a computer store that was seriously considering discontinuing OCZ stock due to the number of returns.
I was running a GameXstream 700W myself at the the time and I became increasingly worried about a 'crackling' sound when ever I was drawing close to full load and replaced it just to be sure with my present PSU.
As I said, this may not be a problem, though I would keep a close eye (and ear) on it

I should note that I have upgraded my video cards since then and was pulling less power at the time

OCZ PSU's are ok, not great but ok, they tend to have high ripple under high loads which over times shortens the life of your components. I personally would replace it with a quality PSU from the PSU list here when you have the chance

I know these psu.s are not the best Ive returned 4 Ocz psu.s and every time they have upgraded it to a more power one. So as time and better cards go on Ive never needed to get a new one.

So 3 480s is a no go then the

Asking for Rep reads as "please don't give me rep" to most of us. Try to avoid that.

@OP, your PSU is fine, 1000W will be more than enough.
