Overclock phenom 9650 2.30GHz?

Im totally new to overclock and never done any overclock before. So i was wondering if my cpu could over clock to higher GHz? is it safe to and how?

Yeah, you would have to do it via the BIOS, (hit del on startup) I think, depends on your board.

You would have to increase your CPU's voltage, You would need to increase the FSB (Front Side Bus) too which will increase your CPU's clock speed, try it every 10 increments on the FSB and see how stable you can get it.

NO! Don't bump up those voltages quite yet. See how far you can get stable without the voltage increase. If you bump them too high and don't know what you are doing, you can fry that motherboard of yours.

Hmm i just changed it from 200 to 220....how much would it counts too high for my cpu? why dont i see the 2.30ghz changes?

try using

coretemp - to monitor temps & core speed
prime95 - test for stability

also fyi. The phenom 1's were not very good overclockers. That was the first chip i ever overclocked. You will probably only be able to get 300mhz tops out of it above and beyond stock. Good Luck. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

temp is at 43'C, 1265.00MHz (220.00 x 5.75) is the speed? No idea how prime95 works.

It's now at 1379.96MHz (239.99 x 5.75) and temperatures reading Tj. Mas: 115'C, CPU 43'C. Is it still safe to go any higher?
