Battlefield 2 Steam or hardcopy?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, im getting BF2 and its more expensive on steam than the hardcopy is so i wasnt sure what to do? What happens with the patches and updates that have been released? I know the updates are applied automatically on Steam but how does the hardcopy work? Whats the update method for hardcopies? Sorry for the noob question, im new to PC gaming as i used to play mainly PS3.

Gerik is 100& right, i've been in that boat before, it sucks.
Go with the Steam version bro, it's worth the extra, maybe 5 dollars?

Hardcopy. Game has been out for a year so the disk should be pretty well up to date. As mentioned above any patches are auto updated.

Fun game. Enjoy.

Why not get the hard copy? You get the case for it too, so you can have something to display lol

If it's less expensive, I'd get the hard copy. If you reformat often, install your games on a separate hard drive.

Steam is simpler and easier. Plus, BF2 has a ton of patches and it's just another thing that can go wrong. Plus, steam has support.

a year O.o...he's talking about Battlefield 2, not Bad Company 2. And Steam copy, because I believe the one on steam is completely up to date with patches and whatnot.

Thanks guys, there is one thing that put me off steam and that was when i downloaded and installed Dirt 2 it worked great for a while but then one day when i clicked 'play' in steam it wouldnt load the game. I reinstalled steam to no avail and had to uninstall Dirt 2 and redownload and install it again? Anyone else had this issue before? Do you think that if i had waited a day or so it would have been working again?
