i5 2500K or i7 2600K ?

Im mainly going to be using my new build for Video editing for youtube and things and maybe a game of minecraft here and there :L so which of these chips do you recommend? The video editing is going to be hind end graphics editing with after effects and things like that so help? Thanks

Hyper threading will help with rendering and encoding for sure. Plus the epeen! Lol!

Go for the best you can. i7 - 2600k is great for all that. There is only upto a 25% performance difference between the two, depending on what you're doing ofcourse.

I don't think video editing for youtube purposes is that extensive so I would say i5-2500K. But more power, the better lol.

Both are awesome cpus, so if you have the money: go i7-2600k. If you are on a budget: i5-2500K.

i7 for rendering encoding.
i5 for gaming.

Get the i7 since you said it's high end videos, will need moar powar!

yup 2600k for sure...if it was just for gaming, then it would be better if you went with the 2500k

For video editing, I would think you'd want the extra threads of the 2600k's HyperThreading.

Or do like I did, get the i5.. Constantly feel like you made a mistake. Then get an i7 anyways...

i5 2500k and i7 2600k have almost similar performance in gaming I think. Unless you're a student who needs to render high detail models or are a professional I don't really think there's a reason to buy the i7.
