Corsair H60, problem

Thread Starter
So Iv bought Corsair H60 and had little problems. I installed it like in this pic

Then after I set everything and booted. BOOM,58 idle, 90C load. So I took it out and was shocked. Only one part of it was connected to the processor due the condezators on p45 t2rs as seen http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-05...5-T2RSside.jpg

So I installed it other way, now I'm getting core 0 45C , core 1 40C idle.
on load its core 0 58C, core 1 52C. I'm worried about temperatures really. I kinda need help, are those temps high, also note its on 3.8GHz clock, with 1.3V on cpu core. Temperature differenced between cores are really scary. Should I consider getting push pull with some faster fans?

How hot is it in your room?

First thing to do is set your CPU to stock. Run some benches and see how your set up matches other similar rigs. You also want to be sure you have another fan blowing over your RAM sticks. I used a cheap antec spot fan before I added a 140mm intake fan in my drive bays pulling in cool air from the front of my case blowing over the mother board. Makes a difference.

w.t.f. Do you know what an air conditioner is?

I'd make sure you're getting full contact on the heatsink if you have core differences of 5 or more.

Only spread if you know your heatsink and cpu are making good contact.
Use dot if you don't know how well your heatsink is contacting.

And if you were getting identical core temperatures with your old cooler, I wouldn't expect anything different from this one. It sounds like it's not making 100% flat contact.

Seems like thermal paste didn't spread good, Iv screwed screws more now. I'm getting 52C per core. Hope its right now. Ill try to put fan on intake as I got side fan of 200mm and top fan of 200mm, I'll add one more fan for pushpull. Got any good recommendation for fans?

If you have it plugged into the motherboard go into your BIOS and turn off any power saving features or Cool N' Quiet.

There's probably a fan speed control in there.

People love the Scythe Gentle Typhoons. They cost around 20 dollars but they have a great CFM:NOISE ratio.

If you just want cheap fans get the Yate Loons, they're about 3.50 a piece and they have high air flow, but they are loud. A fan controller is recommended if you're buying Yate's.
