Really bad news, its also hard to mod a GTX280 with those power hungry supplements.

But can the VRM area be used to power any other GPU like GTX 480's VRM can used to power up any other card.

Don't know it it will work, but what's there to give it a try.

When 'zombieing' a GPU it's a best practice to completely disable the original VRM. So no, a 280 VRM would not be a wise choice for a 480.
