What is the main purpose of the rig?

The 1kw PSU is overkill, a quiality 850w PSU can handle SLI 580s. Other than that build looks good. One more thing to consider, sata 3 HDD are a gimmick, then don't even utilise the bandwith of sata 2, if it's cheaper get the sata 2 wd black or the samsung f3.

For gaming I would recommend:

THe 2500k over the 2600k, the HT tech does nothing for gaming.
4GB of RAM is more than enough for gaming, if the price difference is not a lot then get the 8GB.
The maximus IV and ud7 are the only mobo's that can do tri SLI, so unless your looking for that then my suggestion for mobo would be the Asus P8p67 pro or the gigabyte p67 ud4, if you on budget the asrock p67 extreme4 is an excellent mobo. Most if not all p67 mobos are similar and can overclock well. As for the CPU cooler that is an excellent choice.

^ They all pointed out what needs to be improved. Take note that the Mamba is noisy, the mouse buttons make very audible clicking sounds and it is annoying when gaming. But other than that, very nice mouse.

You may want to check out the Logitech G700 if you're interested in the mamba. Awesome mouse and on sale at newegg.
