New Lens...Camara throws errors.

Well, this is wonderful.

Find a nice example of a converted 55mm F/3.5 Micro. Go into the back yard, start taking pictures of some flowers and notice that my camera is acting..."special". Can not enlarge any previews on my D70's tiny screen. "This file does not support enlargement" or something.

Dweh? Whatever.

Go back out at night, and after taking four shots, it throws the CHA error. Dammit. Check to see how the pictures look on the screen and...what is this?! 4 pictures, two are corrupted already? Where are the pictures from this afternoon?!

Take out card, use card reader, files are reading as: DSC]4567.NAF
...

Crap cakes.

Swap cards, CHA error.

Reformat cards: CHA error.

Reformat 10+ times: CHA error.

Charge battery as there might be some random weird possibility that the battery having a low charge might be the cause...
Fail.

D70 is throwing CHA errors and won't fix.

Crap cakes!

Looks like my upgrade schedule has been changed forcefully now. Now to find a deal on a D200.

Explain?

Just for kicks try reformatting with a different lens and take some pictures using that lens...

I don't see how but maybe this conversion is messing with your D70

Converted pre-AI lens.

Switched back to my 50mm 1.8D, no change.

Also, when a D70 throws a CHA error, it will not take pictures. It basically stop working until you can clear the error. The CHA error message relates to the read/writing ability to the memory, and can sometimes be fixed, and sometimes can't. Going to see if the local repair center can offer some advice. Definitely not looking to get it repaired if it going to cost 200+.

Just bums the hell out of me.

That's very odd. I don't know if it's possible or maybe just coincidental with your lens that this problem came up...

Hope it's good news for you.

Eh, the CHA error came up before, but taking out the card and re-inserting usually helped to fix it, as did formating. Now though, it may be pooched.

It's a defect with the card slot. If you feel up to it, you could pop the back off of the camera and just push the pins further out into the slot. Typically fixes it.
