hd 3870x2 overheating - Page 2

Before going out any getting a new PSU, I'd reset your bios completely. After the reset don't make any changes apart from Boot order/priority. Try running a stability test on your CPU.

Its unlikely but do you own a Multimeter?

This or this are the only things I could recommend at near that price point. But really I'd put in alittle more money and get something with alittle more power.

resetting bios sorta worked every thing at stock didnot affect FPS kept a constant 60 dipped to 40 at times i think my PSU is the culprit by overheating as without the CPU OC it lasted much longer so i think its a mixture of heat and power draw

im currently running 2 sata HDD`s
1 sata DVD RW
2-120mm cooling fans
2-80mm case fans
and 2 92mm fans on my hyper TX3

wow i have a lot of fans

damn + the 2 80mm fans ghetto modded on my GPU wow 8 fans in my system

none of the fans are over 0.30A not sure what the drives pull

but still 9 fans if i include the 120mm in the PSU OMG

Fan draw is minimal, don't even worry about it.

It's the PSU. Get a new one. Something like an Antec Earthwatts 500W or similar would be awesome.

Don't skim on the PSU, its the most important part of your computer.
Furthermore, cheap PSUs are a safety/fire hazard.
