Dell XPS - Nvidia GF 525m

Hi. i'v bought a notebook to my mom and of course i ended up benchmarking it.

These are the specs:

i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M 1GB graphics with Optimus
640Gb 7200 rpm HDD
4Gb DDR3 1333 Ram

The problem is that with any app i'v tried running it wont use dedicated GPU.

I'v installed the lastest Nvidia drivers and configured GPu to always use Nvidia ones and not IntelGMA.

3dmark11 result: http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1322706

Does any1 have a sollution for this problem?

Have you tried bringing up the nVidia control panel?
I'd imagine there are options in there to settle this.

Yes, and that option won't work.

I really don't know what to do...

Maybe install desktop drivers?

I've bought the same one 2 weeks ago and its great laptop.

What you're talking about is not a problem its the nvidia Optimus which saves battery power, if you don't run 3D stuff graphics will depend on the Intel gpu.

I don't see why you want to run everything by the GT 525m it gets too hot and consumes a lot of power, I'm saying this because i use CAD and 3D max most of time and the laptop gets really hot.

What applications does your mom plan on using? I personally wouldn't configure it to run all programs off the Nvidia gpu as like stated earlier heat and battery life will become more of an issue as well as fan noise. Though with optimus I find that sometimes even if I have a program such as a game configured in the control panel to use the dedicated I still have to right click a shortcut icon and choose the deicated that route.
