I like playing with settings, changing options, overclocking, changing out LEDs, and generally messing with stuff. Apple spends ridiculous amounts of money getting rid of these options. They design products that just about anyone can pick up and use intuitively, with little to no configuration required.

With that said, I do see why Apple has such a large market cap. Between the ease of use, reliability, and insanely good PR, it's really no surprise. I'm actually surprised they aren't going the MS route and buying everyone else out.
You are correct. I have a macbook pro sandy bridge and the OS fking su*ks

Which is why Microsoft is being left behind in the dust in the mobile world and is attempting to hold on for dear life by controlling Nvidia.

Can't wait till ChromeOS greatly improves in 3-5 years. Maybe some Ubuntu in there as well.

Mac has been on the attack in new tech since the iPhone, everyone else is just trying to follow their lead now... But with Steven Jobs gone, who knows what will become of this blood sucking vampire corporation...

I mean come on their prices are nostalgic!

I laugh at these wannabes who fail trying to get Apple's prices without the prestigious name! Of course it all goes back to that quote...

"What's in a name?"

EVERYTHING!

As far as the buyout comment, no, I'm sure the CEO is interested in Stock Prices only... to hell with buyouts, he wants to CASHOUT!

I think that's why people are buying Apple products more than anything. It's all about the name. Verizon came out with a new phone that has a dual-core processor in it. But I can guarantee you that it won't sell as much as the iPhone 4 did 2 hours after it was released. As long as it has the apple logo on the back, fanboys and ignorant people that can't think for themselves will say it's better. Now-a-days it's hard to find someone with enough intelligence to realize that Windows 7 is a much better OS than Snow Leopard OS. I have an iPod touch, but that's the only Apple device that I own. I'm a Windows user. And when Windows 8 comes out, you'll hear the fanboys arguing and raging

Remember that whole "Microsoft making Windows 8 compatible with ARM" thing?

EDIT: Most people I know that use apple know LITERALLY NOTHING about technology [key word: most]. They buy apple because all they hear is how easy it is to use. The only reason to buy a mac is for 3d modeling or audio engineering, but even ubuntu studio is comparable if you ACTUALLY know what you're doing/why you're doing it.

To people who bought their mac for a reason other than web-surfing: We're cool.

QFT. While Macs are nothing more than normal PCs with a different OS, that little logo stuck on the laptops is what is doubleing the asking price.

Steve Jobs (love or hate him) is a marketing guru. He essential created this notion that Apple products are different and more high quality to what competitors offer. While it is true to some extend (different OS for example) the underlining hardware which is also stated as revolutionary is exactly, if not a cycle behind competitors.

A recent example are the iPhones. The first iPhone was nothing revolutionary in turns of a phone. Touch screen phones and pocket pcs were out before the iPhone. If you even look at release dates HTC Touch was out a couple of months before the iPhone. However Steve marketed the product in such a way that the average Joe believed in a total radically different product.

Jobs (and Apple) has successfully identified the new emerging markets that haven't gone to mass markets yet and launched their products first making them pioneers and in the eyes of the average consumer the creators of such technology.

No one can take that away from Apple. Some on these forums may call people sheep, but lets be fair. The average person doesnt spend hours researching tech stuff. They see Apple (an established brand that is always providing the products first) and assume that if they are doing something they must be doing it right.
