No, that's completely against any current trends in architectural improvements.
Maybe there isn't a huge improvement in the architecture, that is, the amount of work one core can get done. However, the upcoming trend is going to have to be more simplistic cores and more of them.

I mean, we can only push core complexity so far before it is time to start thinking about other ways to increase performance, like increased parallelism and saving die space by eliminating unnecessary duplication.

Also, yeah, you caught me on the ipc thing lol, I messed that one up. But I did read somewhere that AMD was tweaking the cpu for increased frequency at the cost of some core complexity, if I can just find it again.

Edit: Dang it, faked out.

I was not arguing a point you where, and to be doing it off of something that has not been verified. So stop changing the subject.
I'm not, I was arguing the same point he was. And if you can't understand me, maybe you can understand him.

This thread should be closed then!

(I'm kinda relieved after thinking about it... that 4.7ghz to compete with SB was both absurd and kinda worrying).

All I care about is the fact that BD will be faster than the 1100T, bring a new, smaller process to the marketplace for AMD, new architecture for AMD, 8 true cores for the power user, better die space management, ect. I don't care how it stacks up to SB or anything else Intel has to offer, because it is a moot point for me. If you want to get BD, then go for it. If you are sitting the fence between SB and BD, and cannot wait, then get the SB and leave us alone please.
Who really cares?
Maybe it doesn't matter to people with brand loyalty who may also have a good grasp of how computers work, but I would say quite a majority are simply interested in getting the best, or at least the best for their money.

AMD doesn't make chips for fun, they are made in direct competition to Intel, no?

I want to see one of these on a 4-Phase board.

I don't understand you because you change your goal posts, one minute you say one thing, then you say that you didn't say that. Or that's not what you meant.

Or better yet you insult people by saying that their comprehension sucks.

LOL,...really!?!?!?!
YOU guys need to chill...Ice man, are you a self proclaimed genius? Did you have your brain replaced with a crystal ball? Did you sneak into AMD and test one of there chips?

All this stuff is BS until.... AMD .... releases real benchmarks. BD could be awesome, or it could be crap. Treating these RUMORS as fact and then spouting off your own opinions as fact is wrong. and misleads people from the truth which no one knows yet. Let people decide when its released.
enough is enough....

A friend of mine who knows someone who 'works for AMD' seems to think that Bulldozer is set to rival Ivy Bridge and it's 8 core processors are set to meet the needs of applications we're going to be seeing within the next year.

This friend talks a lot.... but still you never know!
